A Number of Hurt as Turbulence Hits A Delta Airlines Plane into Sydney
Several people were hurt following a Delta jet traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney encountered significant turbulence on Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier told. Four flight attendants were injured.
Emergency medical services stated they assessed a total of five people, and transferred three to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that included spinal discomfort and headaches. The patients' ages were between their thirties and seventies.
It is the latest incident of planes encountering severe turbulence, with experts saying that shifting climate patterns is a key driver.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the representative added, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday morning.
Paramedics indicated they got a call just three minutes ahead of the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.
