Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also means he has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
